“Castaway”

“Castaway”
I’ve been cast out of conventional living
I was never made like that
With ivy growing through my veins
Secret gardens inside of my brain
Twisted up torture inside of my gut
I love and I fight with poetry
I make love under open stars
I sing in the dark when my heart opens up
I cry daily
But I smile all the time
I feel alive when challenged
I find hope in broken things
Sometimes it kills me
Sometimes it keeps me alive
I’ve died more times than a cat
Under stairs that creek
In side rooms with no doors
I’ve had people roll their eyes
And walk away
But I’ve also had love so deep
It pulls continents closer together
I’m keeping windows and doors open
As no one sneaks in
Keeping an eye on the horizon
A storm is brewing
I hope to not weather it alone
