“Song”

“Song”

I heard a song

It said I wish you loved me less

I don’t think you could

I don’t know what unwanted daughters are supposed to do

As we dance across broken landscapes

Begging for hope

But I’m tired

As I dip my hand in the water

Of the flowing creek

That let me be discarded

My mother tried to kill me

She should have used a gun

My father continues to ignore me

Lovers punch me in the face

Because they can

So maybe I’ll just lie down

At the bottom of the mountain

And watch the grass grow

Until my swollen head

Calms down
